Rivieras, Riviera People, and a Batmobile?

NJ ROA Brunch - January 9, 2005

On a mild winter day, a group of us got together inside the old smokey Houlihan's Restaurant (smoky... courtesy of the table a few feet away) to talk about 2005 events, eat, and just enjoy each other's company. Little did we know we were in for a surprise! Above, left (going clockwise): Craig, yours truly, Janet & Fred, Joe, Mark F., Hank and Angelo (napping).

HOLY BAT-RIVIERA - IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS?...

...YES!, That is my blue 1969 Riviera, along with Fred's Silver Riv.

Oh, by the way, that's Angelo's Batmobile in the middle...

YES - BATMOBILE!

As you can imagine, the talk of the day was Angelo's custom-made Batmobile replica. It's been two years in the making out in California (where else would they make these?).

It goes without saying - this is a very cool ride. I am very happy for Angelo - he's like a new dad! She' based on a 1976 Lincoln for the chasis & drivetrain. The body is made of fiberglass.

And what would this car be if it didn't shoot flames!

OK - Batmobile aside, we had a nice lunch and discussed some ideas for this upcoming season. If you're in the ROA and in NJ, drop me an e-mail or check this site often for upcoming events. If you're reading this and you own a Riviera (and don't belong to ROA) time to join! If you're in NJ, own a Riviera, belong to ROA and didn't join us - you need to get involved!

Many thanks to the group - they treated me to lunch today. You are a great bunch of folks. Also, thanks to Angelo who gave me a Harley T-shirt (to go along with the hat he gave me at the last brunch). You all make the work worthwhile!
